This is a somewhat random list of science fiction/fantasy and related conventions across the Midwest and the country. How does a convention get on my list? I'll have conventions here that I attend, have attended, will attend, work on, promote, my friends work on, conventions that I like, or that sounds interesting. If you have a convention that you would like to see here or think belongs here, please let me know.

Crosby has been added as OSFest's Media Guest. Also known as The Omaha Science Fiction and Fantasy Festival, a new convention being put on by Omaha fandom. It is being held at the Comfort Inn & Suite 7007 Grover Street Omaha, NE. Guests include Aaron Allston, Mike Cole, Rusty Hevelin, and Denise Crosby. See the above link for more information. | This is a really fun convention. It is an adults only (21 and over) "relax-a-con". We have very little programming although the ConCom and our members can put an awful lot of work into for laid back con. We have several events/activities over the weekend but the main attraction is the "somewhat risque" and often non-PC vaudeville show on Sat evening. | |||||

| Kansas City '09 put in a lot of effort, time, and money into running this bid. Although Montreal put on a great effort toward the end and came through with the winning bid in voting at the Nippon 2007 WorldCon. Thus the 2009 WorldCon will be in Montreal. I may try to make this con. I will at least have a supporting membership there so I'll have to see. | |||||

| Note: The date of the convention has changed. Kansas City's first anime convention. Its first two years were held in Lawrence, KS on the University of Kansas (KU) campus. This was my first anime con that I attended (Feb 2007). I had a fun time and lots and lots of costumes. I plan on holding a room party at Naka-Kon this year for ConQuest 39. | Dang! It's been
posted to the DaranaCon website this week (Sept 11, '07) that this
convention has been cancelled. And I really wanted to attend this.
Hopefully the will be able to host the convention somewhere next year.
mood: disappointed I haven't been to this convention before. I just heard about it for the first time earlier this year even though this is its 4th year. I'll be throwing a ConQuesT "Fanimal House" Toga Party so stop on by and party like its 99 BC :-) |
